We offer several engaging play-based workshops that were created in collaboration with teaching professionals and tied to Common Core standards for Mathematics. Almost all of the students who have gone through a workshop have expressed that they felt more confident working with data and solving problems. Contact us to learn more!
Our Probability workshop focuses on teaching students the principles of probability and expected value through the lens of shooting in basketball. Students will not only learn the basics and theory but will also gain practical experience making decisions using probability from various game-based activities and a fun deck-building card game.
In our Expressions & Equations workshop, students will learn the power of mathematical modeling by breaking down popular measures of basketball player productivity and working together to create their own models. Students will gain conceptual knowledge of dependent and independent variables and apply algebraic expressions in an engaging simulation game.
"I LOVED the workshop. I think it was engaging to students and easy for them to follow because in general they enjoy sports and they could relate to it!"
“I loved that the starting point was with real-life applications of data analysis. I also loved the role model that Chi provides for our students of someone who is using math professionally and has gone to a challenging university.”
"My favorite part of the workshop was making a graph in google sheets because we got to do what the pros [sports analysts] do.”
